The Story of the Athenian House
About the House
The house is a gem of 1930 Bauhaus, featuring 4 independent apartments in the same building. It's been fully restored to its glory, respecting its style and decor, providing a unique stay in one of Athens most historic and beautiful neighbourhoods.
The Space
Over the last 18 months, we have fully restored this unique monument building entirely, from flooring to heating, fixtures and every element that fully showcases its former glory.
All bathrooms, kitchens, are brand new and each room comes with custom made furniture of the Athenian era of the 1930's - 1950's style.Accommodation

An amazing way to spend the night in the neighbourhood, this iconic theatre was built in 161 AD and renovated in 1950 to it's current splendour. One of Athens' most extraordinary venues, the theatre has hosted the likes of Sinatra, Mouskouri, Sting, Theodorakis, Elton John, Bocelli, and hundreds more. This gem is worth visiting and checking the schedule prior to visiting is recommended!
National Museum of Contemporary Art, Kallirrois 44, Athens
5-6 minutes walking
Conveniently located and newly-built in a former Fix Beer brewery, the museum’s collection is formed around a very important nucleus of works by Greek and foreign artists, and is a must-visit for art enthusiasts.
Market
On your doorstep - 7am to 3pm every friday
A visit to the market is a must if you are in Koukaki on a Friday.
Wonderful, fresh produce is available right outside the home for great prices. Even just for a walk in the neighbourhood, the market provides a typical Greek atmosphere with many interesting sights, sounds and smells.
Makrianni-Koukaki Pedestrian Street
on your doorstep
This pedestrian street opposite the Athenian house is famous throughout Athens for its colourful, vibrant and wonderful atmosphere. Local recommended restaurant/café's include Kalyvas, Little Venice and Dyo Dekares.
Thision Open Air Cinema, Apostolou Pavlou 7, Athens

Open-air cinema's are typically Greek way to spend a holiday evening. Thision Open Air Cinema boasts a great selection of movies, good location with a breeze, and importantly, a view of the Acropolis to enjoy throughout!
Bel Ray, Falirou 88 Athens.

Great food, great drinks. If you want to go somewhere slightly different from the typical local establishments, be sure to visit Bel Ray. With a young and trendy vibe, it is highly recommended and make sure you plan ahead to get a space.

Traditional Greek food, primarily grilled dishes and salads. Served in a contemporary setting, priced very reasonably.

Slightly more refined than neighbouring restaurants, Skoumbri takes pride in it's seafood dishes, which are its speciality. Quick service and tasty food make for a good visit for both lunch and dinner. Don't forget to try the zucchini fries!

"Syngrou Fix" Metro Station
The closest station and recommended point of departure for Metro usage, this is only 5-6 minutes away by foot.
Acropolis Museum & Metro Station
Only 10 minutes walking distance.
Beach
The recommend route of public transport from the home is to take the Metro Red Line from Sygrou Fix station to Elliniko station (15 minutes), and then take a taxi (more tourist friendly than bus) to the actual beach itself (time dependant on beach).
Depending on the beach you wish to visit, the entire journey can cost anywhere from €7-10.
For a more scenic option of transport, trams can also be accessed from Elliniko to reach the beaches (details found in Public Transport section).
Ports: Piraeus & Rafina
If you are catching a boat from the Port of Piraeus or Rafina, kindly let us know and we will advise you the best way to get there, depending on the time.
Piraeus is 15' away by taxi, the same via metro/train.
Rafina port is quite a long way away from Athens, hence you would need alternative arrangements.
